Merishia Massage is performed using simple but effective techniques and can benefit animals of all ages and of all abilities. We very often associate a massage with a treat, something which is relaxing and de-stresses us. Although this is very true and it is exactly the same for animals. It also has great physical benefits.
Massage is a great way to stimulate the blood flow, which therefore aids the removal and helps to prevent a build up of toxins in the body. An animal that has been injured as a result of a fall for instance, would benefit from this. Older animals or those that are stiff will very often take longer to warm up. An increase of blood flow stimulated by a massage will help this and make the animal more comfortable.
As we all know, getting a good rug to fit your horse and a good fitting saddle isn’t always easy. Ill fitting equipment can cause muscle spasms which in turn may affect the way your horse moves. Your horse may carry his weight differently and over compensate on other limbs as a result, which in turn can then lead to lameness. Having your horse massaged regularly, can help to catch these spasms and release them before any serious damage is caused.
Muscle spasms can also appear in dogs. Dogs will very often lie on the same side. Does your dog pull on the lead or do you always lead your dog on the same side? Regular massages benefits dogs too!
Other benefits of massage include;
·Reduces the Risk of injury
·Helps to Calm a nervous animal
·Helps to ‘Wake Up’ lazy animals
·Improve Communication
·Improves Muscle Strength
